Silkscreen on linen collage, steel painted tray frame

The painted, bird-like face in this collage has been a signature image within David Noonan’s work since 2005. In this work the image is overlaid with a geometric pattern derived from a leaded light. The composition employs a trompe l’oeil effect, the abstract design resembling a window. David Noonan (b. 1969, Ballarat) has held solo exhibitions at the Contemporary Art Museum, St Louis (2011); Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne (2009); Chisenhale Gallery, London (2008) and the Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2007). His work is held in major public collections including the British Council Collection; Dallas Museum of Art; Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago; National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa; the Museum of Modern Art; the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Whitney Museum, New York. Noonan lives and works in London.
