With his eclectic practice, John Miller comments in a humorous and astute manner on social values as well as an autonomous understanding of art. A recurring theme in Miller's work are mannequins, which as standardised forms of representation mediate an apparent form of reality in public space. Miller's Jahresgabe is a depiction a three-part mannequin formation alternating in front of a white winter idyll as a projection surface for consumption between the banal and the uncanny. John Miller (b. 1954, Cleveland, US) works and lives in New York and Berlin. His solo exhibitions have taken place, among others, at Schinkel Pavilion, Berlin (2020); Museum Ludwig, Cologne (2011); Kunsthalle Zürich (2009); Magasin Centre National d'Art Contemporain, Grenoble (1999) and MoMA PS1, Long Island City (1998). In 2011 he was awarded the Wolfgang Hahn Prize.
