Picture archives and the conventions of commercial photography and photojournalism are key points of reference in Christopher Williams’ work. 'Untitled', 2016 belongs to a recent body of work that refers to what Williams has called ‘the staging of images from everyday life’. Christopher Williams (b. 1956, Los Angeles) has held solo exhibitions at the Whitechapel Gallery, London (2015); The Museum of Modern Art, New York and the Art Institute of Chicago (all 2014). His work is part of major international collections such as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. He had a solo exhibition at Bonner Kunstverein in 2009. Williams lives and works in Cologne and Los Angeles.
