The characters in Rooney’s performances, paintings and sculpture are ‘drawn from many sources’. She describes her process as ‘a continual state of observation, a relentless kind of looking and processing of people in public spaces’. These paintings are part of a series of therianthropic representions of human and animal faces. Megan Rooney (b. 1985, Toronto) has held solo exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Toronto (2018); Tramway, Glasgow (2017); CRAC Alsace; Fondation d’Entreprise Galeries Lafayette, Paris (2014) and SPACE, London (2013). Her work has also been exhibited at the Serpentine Gallery, London; Palais de Tokyo (2018); the Museum of Modern Art Warsaw (2017) and the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto (2014). She lives and works in London.
