On Saturday, 11 May, we will gather for a conversation with Emanuele Marcuccio and Daniele Milvio focused on MMXX, an artist-run space they founded in Milan in 2020.
The title of this gathering is a quote from a "Q&A moment" between journalist and moderator Roberto D’Agostino and actor, poet, and film director Carmelo Bene from a famous Italian talk show. As Carmelo Bene was into a contortionist argumentation focused on proving that he was not existing, D’Agostino took the microphone to ask him: "If you don’t exist, why do you dye your hair?" The exchange is a cult moment of high and low culture, a paradoxical slip when faced together on a pop ground. Link here.
This title speaks of an attitude and productive field that touches an important nerve for MMXX and this conversation: how does one keep multiple realities in one mind at the same time, and protect a spirit which goes heavy and deep, yet with humour, with lightness, and a touch of romanticism.
