On Tuesday, 5 December we gather for our monthly dinner with literary scholar Dr. Thomas Fechner-Smarsly and his students as contributors and guests.
Drawing on reflections around dirt, pollution and contamination, this is a talk which considers these strands in their connection with care work. Based on field studies and references, including Jana Costas' work on cleaning and labour in Dramas of Dignity to Mierle Laderman Ukeles’ Manifesto for Maintenance Art, this is a talk which considers some of the connections and instabilities between caring about, caring for and the class and gender dynamics played out and embodied in these relations.
The Stammtisch is free for members and students, 5 EUR for everyone else. A light meal and drinks will be served. A warm welcome!
