The narrative structure and graphic style of Sanya Kantarovsky’s paintings recall a rich tradition of book illustration from the 19th and 20th centuries and Modernist painting. Sanya Kantarovsky (b. 1982, Moscow) has held exhibitions at Modern Art, London; Tanya Leighton Gallery, Berlin (both 2016); Kim? Contemporary Art Center, Riga (2014) and Gesellschaft für Aktuelle Kunst, Bremen (2013). His work is held in significant public collections including the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Hirshhorn Museum, Washington and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York. He lives and works in New York.
