Working between Zurich and Vienna, Valentina Triet has been exploring the methods in artistic practice which give rise to pattern and repeatability. In drawings, films, and paintings, Triet investigates ways that the pattern itself becomes the art form. While patterns, formulae, and abstract algorithms run the logistics of daily life, Triet exorcises from these their hiccups, murmurs, and swerves from the code that would otherwise seek natural alignment. Worked over minimally, her works eye a certain reservedness about patterning, looking into the process that otherwise seeks to do away with excess, surplus, and the unnecessary. Valentina Triet (b. 1991, Winterthur, CH) lives and works in Vienna. She is currently studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in the class of Heimo Zobernig. She has had exhibitions at Felix Gaudlitz, Vienna (2021) and Canopy, Malmö (2021).
