Claudia Kugler's artistic practice is based on a reductionist use of digital image processing programmes. While she humorously and boldly transforms both pop culture finds from the Internet and her own photographs into abstract, timeless and placeless pictorial objects, Kugler also constructs her own motifs by sculpturally modulating monochrome surfaces with the help of colour gradients and shading. In Kugler's annual edition, these spatial effects depict poisonous green snake bodies whose multiple coils form the year 2020. Claudia Kugler's (born 1969, Auerbach/Opf.) works have been shown at venues including: Haus am Lützowplatz, Berlin (2019); Natalia Hug, Cologne (2018); Kienzle Art Foundation, Berlin (2017, 2016) and Galerie Max Mayer, Düsseldorf (2015, 2012). She lives and works in Berlin.
