Maria Loboda
Note the δ-3 Carene in the air, 2017
Vinyl
3 unique works, with certificate
Loboda’s diverse and often minimal works explore the construction of narratives, referring variously to folklore and myth as well as scientific or historical ‘facts’. These discreet, somewhat cryptic text works suggest the presence of the scents that are not actually present. Loboda uses the chemical terms used in modern perfumery to refer to turpentine (δ-3 Carene), pine (α-pinene) and wild thyme (β-mycrene). Maria Loboda (b. 1979, Krakow) has held exhibitions at the Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt (2018); CAC Vilnius; Kunsthalle Basel (2017); The Power Plant, Toronto (2016); Kunstverein Braunschweig (2014); Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid (2013) and Bielefelder Kunstverein (2010). She lives and works in Berlin.
