Graphite and charcoal on canvas

Unique, signed and dated

Peppi Bottrop's monochrome paintings are based on the use of simple materials such as charcoal and graphite. Alternating between fine, coarse and densely packed, the lines and forms record Bottrop's hand and body movements. Process and end result share the same status in Bottrop's art - the generating action is just as relevant as the finished drawing. Peppi Bottrop (born 1986, Bottrop) has had solo and group exhibitions at Meyer Riegger, Karlsruhe; Deichtorhallen Hamburg (2020); Kunstmuseum Bonn; Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei, Leipzig (2019); Marciano Art Foundation, Los Angeles and Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten Marl (2018), among others. Bottrop lives and works in Cologne.
