Phan playfully references the notion of ‘apprenticeship’ within the so-called ‘creative industries’ with this series of customised, white collared shirts. Phung-Tien Phan (b. 1983, Essen) has exhibited at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf (2015); Museum Folkwang, Essen (2013) and Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2012). Phan was awarded Bonner Kunstverein’s Peter Mertes Stipendium in 2015. She lives and works in Essen where since 2014, as a member of the artist group New Bretagne, she has run Belle Air’s exhibition programme.
