Hélène Fauquet's Jahresgabe, a UV-light-printed and untreated wooden panel, is based on a collection of found photographs that depict a mirroring object and the its surrounding which is reflected on the object's surface. Photographed with the intention of reselling the object on an online platform, the image simultaneously reveals traces of the accidental and the private. It is precisely those fractures that result from the repeated patterns and arrangements which Fauquet deploys in her work to explore forms and conditions of contemporary visual habits. Hélène Fauquet (b. 1989, Saint-Saulve, FR) has had solo and group exhibitions at Édouard Montassut, Paris; Schiefe Zähne, Berlin (both 2020); Christian Andersen, Copenhagen; Kunstverein Nürnberg (both 2019) and Jan Kaps, Cologne (2017). She lives and works in Vienna.
