Fontana Bagni Misteriosi, 2020

30 x 40 cm

Archival Fine Art Print, Hahnemühle Photorag

Ed. 10 + 5 AP, with certificate

With her photographs of historical buildings, urban structures, living spaces and people, Heidi Specker creates an ambivalent feeling of familiarity and strangeness. At the same time, her attentive and precise gaze always reflects the capacity of the photographic medium and the knowledge of the history of images. Specker's annual work shows a detail of the fountain 'Fontana Bagni Misteriosi', designed by Giorgio de Chirico, whose works were also the photographic subject of Specker's earlier works. Heidi Specker (b. 1962, Damme) has had solo exhibitions at the following institutions, among others: Kunstmuseum Bonn (2018); Camera Austria, Graz (2018); Pinakothek der Moderne; Munich (2015); Leopold Hoesch Museum, Düren (2012) and Sprengel Museum, Hanover (2005). She is a professor of photography at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, Leipzig. Specker lives and works in Berlin.
