It is an "unspoken remnant of utopian reverie, somewhere between despair and defiance", as Annelie Pohlen describes Münch's paintings. Existentially charged, his paintings and drawings are reminiscent of Samuel Beckett's stage plays. "Memory, inner images and dream" flow into one another and similarly dissolve the boundary between comedy and tragedy. Horst Münch (born 1951, Nuremberg) has had solo and group exhibitions at the Institut für moderne Kunst Nürnberg (2019); Käthe Kollwitz Museum, Cologne (2017); Museum Morsbroich, Leverkusen (2016, 1999); K20 - Kunstsammlung NRW (2016) and Neues Museum Nürnberg (2012, 2006, 2002), among others. Münch lives and works in Cologne.
